2011-2012 School Calendar

The 2011-2012 school year calendar has been finalized. You can view the calendar on the Halifax Regional School Board website at http://www.hrsb.ns.ca/content/id/628.html

School Driveway

The parking lot is very busy during the day. All parents are requested to stop/park on Hamilton Drive or Rosemary Drive. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Pennies/Coins for Books Campaign

Tattletales Book Store in Dartmouth is sponsoring the annual campaign to raise money for books. During the month of February we will be collecting pennies and/or other coins. Tattletales then credits us with the amount of money collected as well as a portion donated by business sponsors. Last year we collected over $1000.00 in pennies. Can we exceed that amount this year?

School Closure/ Emergency Dismissal

The School Board’s decision to cancel school will usually be made as close to 6:00 a.m. as possible and it will be communicated on the radio, the Board's website, the board’s main switchboard and through the school cancellation number - 464- INFO (4636).  If busses are cancelled and schools are open, parents must use their own discretion with regard to bringing their children to school.  When buses are cancelled in the morning due to weather conditions, buses are also cancelled in the afternoon.  When schools are open, meaningful learning activities will be going on in classrooms.  Students who are unable to attend due to inclement weather and/or bus cancellation will not be penalized because of assignments given or due on that day.

Please advise the office as soon as your emergency contact information changes.  In the event of an early dismissal emergency Phone Trees are put into effect and students are not permitted to leave until contact with families (caregiver) is made.  HRH is part of the Millwood High School Family of Schools.

No Child Without Program

Our school is involved in the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation’s No Child Without ® program. The program offers MedicAlert membership at no cost. Parents who have a child with a medical condition, an allergy or who is required to take medication on a regular basis, should consider participating in the program. For further information, come to the school office for a No Child Without brochure or visit www.nochildwithout.ca. If your child is already participating in the program, and there have been changes in their medical condition or medications, contact MedicAlert at 1-800-668-1507 to update your child’s file.
